Little Kingdoms - The Willow EP

This is a band I've known about for a few years now and always just forgot to post it. Little Kingdoms are some really young dudes from PA who do the typical soft twinkly pretty stuff, but are unique because they change up their sound a bit. Sometimes it's really sparse acoustic parts and then you'll have a song like "F'in Rad" (which is the best song in the world, by the way) which uses different sounds for percussion like a door closing/opening and typing on a typewriter. You'll get it when you hear it! The vocals definitely remind me of older On The Might Of Princes when they did softer songs, which is cool. I guess they're making some new music because there's a really short sample clip on their myspace now. I can't wait to hear what else they come out with!

Oatmeal - Dinosaur Eggs

I just got this bands only release, a 5 song EP, and goddamn it is good! It kind of reminds me of a mix between Colossal, Pirouette, and Snowing, but from California. I stupidly Google'd "oatmeal dinosaur eggs" looking for information about the band before I was like "OH I SEE WHAT THEY DID THERE". Anyways, get this...it's good! Unfortunately, they are broken up, bummerrrrr.

Castevet - The Echo & The Light (Tape Version)

I've been holding off on posting this, but I recently got word that the re-release of this (with 2 extra songs and some of the songs have been recorded) is up for pre-order. And since the tape is sold out, I figured I might as well post this and tell everyone to buy the new album! This album is definitely my favorite Castevet stuff, so get it!

The Six Parts Seven - Silence Magnifies Sound

As per a request, here is some older TSPS. Really pretty, twinkly instrumental jams. Check our older posts for their newer albums. Best sleeping music, period.

Good Luck - Demonstration

While not being the most "twinkly"/"rad"/"whatever" band that will be posted here, I'm really digging this new EP. I liked their past bands (Matty Pop Chart, One Reason) and this band is really great. They can definitely noodle it up with the best of them (see intro tapping part to "Decider"), but don't try to cop the nu-emo sound and keep it super posi with some of the most "IT'S GOING TO BE OKAY!" lyrics I've heard. It's really hard to actually describe this band...male/female vocals where he sings higher than she does, lots of intricate guitar parts that leave me baffled as to how he plays that and sings at the same time, really upbeat "indie" sound that definitely takes some influences on their past "folk-punkish" bands, but not really at all. If you don't have their full length, "Into Lake Griffy" yet, then you better get on that. They have this EP for free download on their band camp website, so feel free to donate them a few bucks!

My Heart To Joy - Virgin Sails

So normally I wouldn't post a "DIY" band that's still very active/has stuff that's very easy to buy, but this is a special case! I just found out that My Heart To Joy sold out of their 7" and have it for free download on their band camp website, so I figured I'd help promote that some. So get it, it rules! If you haven't heard them yet, do yourself a favor and download the preview to their full length Dan posted a while. Then buy their record and all their merch.

Wavelets

Based on the name I was expecting another hyped up lofi surf band with crummy GarageBand recordings. Thankfully this is not the case. Wavelets reminds me a bit of Grown Ups without so much of the pop punk influence. They generously give all their recordings away for free from their blogspot. Enjoy.

Let's: I Can't Wait

OK for serious, time to up my post count. I saw Let's play a few months ago with Castevet and Grown Ups (great show). It features members of Summer We Went West and Pansori. I think they sound a lot of Summer We Went West. Very jangly emo. 3 songs. Check it.

The Littlest Viking: Labor & Lust

I apologize for the lack of updates. Honestly there haven't been too many bands I've heard lately that peak my interest. These dudes are legit though. If you have any suggestions/recommendations, please feel free to send them my way.
